   CT SEGMENT 25, p. 4

FRIDAY, JULY 1

(Continued from the last page.)

Cody and I did fine today despite all the miles and time on the trail. I was better trained for it because I did more than that distance at the Bighorn race a couple weeks ago; Cody hasn't done that kind of mileage since March.

Ironically, Cody doesn't look as tired as I feel tonight! I'm not sore but I get stiff if I sit too long.

Hiking north toward Bear Mtn.

This valley is a good place to spot wildlife.

Two outbound hikers

I did a little bit of running both out and back so I could cover more ground in the time I had and to make up for all the pictures I took. It was a gorgeous day and so was the scenery.

JIM'S DAY

I wish Jim could have done this hike with me today but his knee hurts too much to go even a mile, let alone 16+. He enjoys this segment, too. If the trail was more dry he might be able to cycle on it.

While I was gone Jim got one of the propane tanks filled in town (now $19/tank instead of $15, and one price regardless of how much it takes), got more water and dumped trash, went to the PO to get a new NetFlix movie, did some chores around the campground, rode my TriCross bike in town and out CO 110 a little bit, and did various chores.

He talked again with Shauna, the communications volunteer coordinator, re: where we'd like to work during the race.

Our first job will be timing with Roy and Laura at Cunningham aid station (the first aid station in this year's CCW direction). We'll also help with communications during several shifts at HQ during the race. In addition I volunteered to help with race check-in next Thursday, the day before the race.

Coming back down in the last mile to Little Molas Lake

Molas Lake is in the distance.

Snowdon Peak

After supper we did our Silverton “routine” – Jim went into town to watch a NetFlix movie where he can get free WiFi. Cody and I walked around the campground for a few minutes, then I was on the computer the rest of the evening.

Our side of the campground is very full now, but there’s plenty of room in the large area between us and the creek. Go figure.

Next entryupdate on our activities and plans

Happy trails,

Sue
